We’re looking for a writer with an analytical mind and a strong foundation in business communications, who wants to contribute meaningfully to a cornerstone of our business – thought leadership.

At Perennial, driving thought leadership extends from keeping up with the latest industry news and trends to engaging our clients with thought-provoking ideas. Thought leadership shapes our insights, informs our design solutions, and is critical to building and maintaining relationships with our clients.

As the Thought Leadership Writer, you will work collaboratively with researchers and writers on the Retail Intelligence team, which plays a key role in supporting thought leadership within the business. Under the leadership and guidance of the Director, Retail Insights, the Retail Intelligence team is responsible for providing research and insights that contribute to the strategic foundation of our design solutions, developing industry perspectives and points of view, and promoting Perennial as thought leaders. As a member of the Retail Intelligence team, you will participate in brainstorms and ideation sessions to identify and develop topics, which you will transform, through exceptional storytelling and writing skills, into articles, presentations, white papers, reports and other content, as required.

Our ideal candidate will have strong business writing skills, experience researching, synthesizing and writing compelling content, with an ability to write in different voices appropriate to various print and online media platforms, to different industries and to diverse audiences. The individual is capable of working both with a team as well as independently when required, and will have an outgoing, professional and friendly disposition with the ability to work with a range of personalities. A keen attention to detail, the ability to prioritize workload according to deadlines and respond to changing priorities, as well as the focus to take ownership of a project and see it through to the end are also crucial.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities 

• Generate ideas for thought leadership content

• Develop and write interesting and engaging content across a range of industries, including retail, financial, healthcare and not-for-profit

• Collaborate with a cross functional team to develop a broad range of client-facing materials, including thought leadership articles, trends and insights reports, presentation content, white papers, etc.

• Assist the marketing team in the development of speaker proposals, conference presentations and related marketing collateral

 

Key competencies and qualifications

• Excellent storytelling, writing, editing, proofreading skills

• Strong verbal communication skills

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a writer

• Strong portfolio of published samples and corporate communications across a range of communication types and channels

• Ability to work collaboratively

• Attention to detail and experience working under deadlines

• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications is a must (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Prior experience writing healthcare, financial, government, or not for profit communications an asset
